As the Andy Williams song goes, “It’s the most wonderful time of year”! Christmas decorations are up, twinkling lights can be seen across the suburbs, daily treats are claimed from advent calendars, and Christmas carols are played.
One of the many highlights of the festive season are the community gatherings and carol concerts taking pace across the city. With this in mind we have selected the best places to listen to carols without having to venture too far from home.

Dunamis Church’s Christmas Carols event is a great night out. ‘The Market’ food stalls will be back this year so you can enjoy a delicious meal as well as live entertainment.

The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols is a spectacular event that’s not to be missed. This joyous celebration supports Mater Little Miracles and features entertainment from some of Australia’s best singers and entertainers. This year’s line up includes Rhonda Burchmore, Luke Kennedy, ABC KIDS band Lah-Lah, Opera Queensland stars Rosario La Spina and Anna-Maria La Spina, The 7 Sopranos, The Koi Boys, Reece Mastin, Joseph Tawadros, Angela Fabian and many more.

Citipointe Church hosts their annual Christmas Lights Family Concert over two fun-filled days. The festive weekend starts with Christmas carols, singing and dancing on Saturday night and continues with a family fun day on Sunday followed by more carols and entertainment in the evening.

Redlands’ largest free community event is kicks off with an afternoon of children’s activities including face painting, jumping castles and a special children’s Christmas show. There will be plenty of food stalls so bring a blanket and relax on the hill as you’re entertained by an outstanding lineup of singers and musicians. Christine Anu and Thirsty Merc perform along with Angela Fabian, musical theatre star Amanda Harrison, opera singer Billy Bourchier, The Voice Australia’s finalist Ellen Reed, The Voice Kids 2014 winner Redlands’ own Alexa Curtis and young Redlands soprano Leah Lever. Closing out the event is a fireworks display at 8:15pm.
